EPA, Army Corps issue memo on Clean Water Rule

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy and Department of the Army Assistant Secretary for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy, who is in charge of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, issued a memo to their regional administrators on Thursday regarding implementation of the Clean Water Rule, which is scheduled for August 28.
In the memo, McCarthy and Darcy said it is imperative that the permitting process be transparent and that the permits be tracked.
A dozen lawsuits that have been brought against the rule have been consolidated into one case that will be heard in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati.
