Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will consider both current USDA employees and outsiders to succeed Brian Baenig, his chief of staff, a spokesman for Vilsack said today.
Baenig will leave his position to move to the private sector sometime in August, The Hagstrom Report said Friday.
Responding to a query about who would succeed Baenig, Matt Herrick, Vilsack’s communications director, said in an email, “As with any vacancy, we will begin to look at internal and external candidates and work to ensure a smooth transition. We have no announcements to make at this time.”
