Conklin to retire from Farm Foundation

Neil Conklin, the president of the Oakbrook, Ill.-based Farm Foundation, has announced his intention to retire effective December 2016.

Conklin has served as president since January 2008. Earlier, he served as director of the Market and Trade Economics Division of the Agriculture Department’s Economic Research Service. and before that was vice president and chief economist at the Farm Credit Council.

He also worked at the Office of Management and Budget and served on the faculty at Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Colorado State University.

Farm Foundation Chairman Mark Scholl Scholl has appointed a search committee to begin the process of finding a successor, and named two trustees as co-chairs of the committee: Joe Swedberg, the vice chair of the board of trustees, who recently retired as vice president of legislative affairs for Hormel Foods Corp., and Jim Borel, executive vice president of DuPont.
