Chelsea Clinton, the vice chair of the Clinton Foundation and the daughter of President Bill Clinton and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, will make opening remarks Tuesday at the Alliance for Healthier Generation's 8th biennial childhood obesity conference in San Diego.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, founded by the Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and to help children develop healthy habits, works with schools, companies, community organizations, healthcare professionals and families to build healthier environments.
Experts on children’s health, as well as health professionals, advocates, and school and community stakeholders will also speak on obesity reduction.
The announcement of Clinton’s speech noted that a recently published study in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s journal, Preventing Chronic Disease, analyzed 281 California schools that participated in the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program from 2006-2012 and found measureable reductions in overweight and obesity rates among students.
