President Barack Obama designated Kenneth Spearman, a member of the Farm Credit Administration board, as chairman, late Friday, the FCA announced today.

Spearman’s term on the board will expire on May 21, 2016.

He succeeds Jill Long Thompson, who has served as chair and CEO since November 27, 2012.

Dallas Tonsager, who was confirmed by the Senate last week for the three-member board, was sworn in today, the FCA said.

He will serve the remainder of the six- year term previously held by Thompson, which expires May 21, 2020.

Jeffery Hall, who was also confirmed last week, is expected to be sworn in on Tuesday.
