DES MOINES — For Hagstrom Report readers planning to watch the Iowa Ag Summit live on The Des Moines Register website, here is a tentative schedule of the speakers.
Republican presidential hopefuls will be interviewed by Bruce Rastetter, the Iowa entrepreneur, philanthropist and Republican donor who organized the event.
“Each candidate’s time with Rastetter will last 20 minutes as they answer questions about the broad range of issues facing American farmers and agribusinesses, including modern agriculture practices, renewable fuels, biosciences, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), grain and livestock markets, land conservation, federal subsidies and other related topics,” according to a news release from the organizers.
The other speakers are Iowa politicians, a university president and a representative of the renewable fuels industry.
Rastetter said in a news release Friday that approximately 1,000 people are expected to attend the event at the Iowa State Fair grounds.
At a reception Friday evening, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, a Republican, told The Hagstrom Report that contrary to media reports he expects Rastetter to ask questions about immigration as well as other issues important to agriculture.
Here is the tentative schedule, with names of the candidates in italics. All times are CST.
