Three Republican House agriculture leaders have written Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell to tell them that the issues raised by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee are so “complex” that the comment period on the recommendations should be extended from 45 days to 120 days.

The letter was signed by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Michael Conaway, R-Texas, House Agriculture Nutrition Subcommittee Chairwoman Jackie Walorski, R-Ind., and House Agriculture Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee Chairman David Rouze, R-N.C.
