Farm worker to join Obama on immigration town hall

A United Farm Workers member and farm worker leader from eastern Oregon, Raul Esparza de la Paz, will take part in President Barack Obama’s bilingual town hall meeting on immigration tonight, the United Farm Workers said in an news release.
The event will be aired tonight in Spanish on Telemundo at 7 p.m. EST and in English on MSNBC at 8 p.m. EST.
Esparza de la Paz is a worker leader at a company in eastern Oregon where he feeds dairy and meat cows, the union said in a news release.
A father of four with 10 grandchildren, he would benefit from the Obama administrative relief. He has a son who is a permanent U.S. resident and Esparza de La Paz would apply for relief through him. One of his daughters already has benefited from the Obama policies and two more daughters may also potentially qualify for relief from deportation under the program.
He said his family is here, so he feels his roots are also in the United States, the union said.
“The bilingual town hall with President Obama will be moderated by Telemundo anchorman Jose Diaz Balart,” the union said. “The groundbreaking event, pre-recorded at Florida International University in Miami, will be the first time the president will officially meet face-to-face in person with undocumented Americans to answer their questions.”
