The Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and Western Growers, which represents specialty crop growers in California and Arizona, today announced they have formed a “strategic collaboration,” Western Growers said in a news release.
The two associations have signed a memorandum of understanding that allows them to work together on federal policy issues, food safety and other policy issues of mutual interest, Western Growers said.
Under the agreement, Western Growers will provide membership to growers and allied members of the CFVGA throughout 2015 and 2016, and the two groups will work together on federal government affairs and science and technology.
The agreement does not include Colorado state advocacy or other state activities.
Robert Sakata, president of the Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, said in the news release that “the knowledge and expertise of the Western Growers science and technology staff, especially regarding food safety issues and regulations as well as from other staff on immigration reform and farm labor issues will be of great benefit to CFVGA members.”
