GAO: Food safety needs better coordination

The federal government’s food safety programs need better coordination, the Government Accountability Office said in a report issued in late December.
GAO has made the same point in previous reports, but also noted that the Food Safety Working Group with representatives of the Agriculture Department and the Food and Drug Administration is no longer meeting.
