Vilsack: COOL rule not to be appealed until January
October 28, 2014 | 04:08 PM
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said today that the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative will decide whether to appeal the World Trade Organization decision that found fault with the U.S. country-of-origin labeling regime for red meat, and added that the WTO has asked any appeal to be held until January.
Vilsack said there are no active conversations with the Canadians as far as he knows and that he was disappointed that Canadian Agriculture Minister had criticized National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson.
Earlier, DTN/The Progressive Farmer reported that Vilsack said that the appeal would not be filed until January.
