USDA releases report on the biobased rural economy

The Agriculture Department today issued a report on the rural biobased economy called “Why Biobased?”

Written under contract to USDA by Jay Golden, director of the Duke Center for Sustainability & Commerce, and Robert Handfield, a professor of supply chain management at North Carolina State University and director of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative, the report emphasizes the role of the USDA BioPreferred program in the development of biobased businesses.
