USTR says no progress with Japan

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said late Wednesday that despite meetings of U.S. and Japanese officials Tuesday and Wednesday there was no major progress on the Trans Pacific Partnership negotiations.

Trade Representative Michael Froman, Japanese Economy Minister Akira Amira and their teams had met on agriculture and autos, USTR said, but “While there were constructive working level discussions over the weekend, we were unable to make further progress on the key outstanding issues.”
