Nine Senate Democrats will meet with John Podesta, a counselor to President Barack Obama, on Thursday to be updated on the administration’s plans on the volumetric requirements for the Renewable Fuel Standard, Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., announced today.
Franken noted that in June he organized a letter from senators to Obama asking for an opportunity to discuss the issues.
Franken also noted that he and the other senators who will attend the meeting are opposed to an Environmental Protection Agency proposal to reduce the volumetric requirements, and have expressed that before.
Joining Franken in the meeting will be Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Tom Harkin of Iowa, Patty Murray of Washington, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Maria Cantwell of Washington, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Joe Donnelly of Indiana and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota.
