Election polls closed in Mississippi at 8 p.m. EDT in the closely watched Republican runoff between Senate Agriculture Committee ranking member Thad Cochran, R-Miss., and challenger Chris McDaniel.
Some polls show the race neck and neck while others show the McDaniel ahead. Cochran has been courting black voters while tea party activists said they would police the polls, the New York Times reported. Key Mississippi agriculture groups endorsed Cochran.
