House Republicans to elect new leader this afternoon
June 19, 2014 | 12:52 PM
House Republicans will begin voting today at 2 p.m. to elect a new House majority leader and, assuming that the current whip, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., wins the majority leader race, a new House whip.
McCarthy is widely expected to win and is popular. Some people in the agriculture community, however, recall that his whip operation did not deliver the votes to pass the farm bill in the House the first time it was brought up and immigration reform advocates have been frustrated that he has wavered on that issue, even though his district is 35 percent Hispanic.
Here are links to some stories about the races.
