The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition has hired Paul Wolfe, as a policy specialist.

Wolfe will focus on NSAC’s efforts to reform farm programs and improve crop insurance, federal agricultural research and extension policy, and livestock market competition issues, the group, which represents smaller, environmentally-minded farmers, said in a news release.

Wolfe has worked on sustainability, farm and food issues for Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., for six years and before that worked for Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D.

Earlier he was the senior policy analyst for the Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production.

A native of Washington state, he holds a law degree from the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law and a bachelor of arts in political science from Gonzaga University.
