The Agriculture Department is seeking applications for $14.5 million in two USDA bioenergy programs, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today.
USDA’s Rural Development division plans to make up to $12 million in payments for eligible biorefineries through its Repowering Assistance program which was reauthorized by the 2014 farm bill.
Biorefineries in existence on or before June 18, 2008 are eligible for payments to replace fossil fuels used to produce heat or power with renewable biomass.
USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture announced the availability of $2.5 million in its Sun Grant program to enhance national energy security through the development of bio-based transportation fuels, biopower, and new bio-based products.
