Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., has announced the following witnesses for the hearing on reauthorization of child nutrition programs on Thursday.

The list signals that the hearing will focus on school meals rather than other child nutrition programs.

• Retired Air Force Gen. Richard Hawley, representing Mission: Readiness, a group that campaigned for healthier school meal rules to address the problem of obesity and the high rate of young Americans ineligible to serve in the military because they are overweight or obese.
• Otha Thornton, president, National Parent Teacher Association, Fort Stewart, Ga.
• Stephen Cook, physician and associate professor at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, N.Y.
• Yolanda Stanislaus, principal, Francis Scott Key Middle School, Silver Spring, Md.
