Christenson promoted to USDA deputy chief of staff

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has named Dan Christenson as a deputy chief of staff to succeed Anne Cannon MacMillan.

Christenson most recently was chief of staff in the USDA’s Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services and before that was a senior policy adviser to the Food and Nutrition Service administrator.

Before joining USDA, Christenson served from 2005 to 2011 as a senior professional staff member on the Senate Agriculture Committee and helped to craft the nutrition and specialty crop titles of the 2008 farm bill, as well as the 2010 Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.

Christenson received a bachelor of arts degree from Luther College and a master of arts degree from Iowa State University.
