Senate continues farm bill talk today, vote on cloture

The Senate reconvened today at 2 p.m., with the farm bill as the main item of business, and is scheduled to hold a cloture vote on the bill at 5:30 p.m.
The Senate will continue discussing the farm bill on Tuesday, with a vote on final passage scheduled at about 2:30 p.m.
Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., has given a speech in favor of the bill, and Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D., has followed him.
According to Senate sources, the following senators also have signaled that they intend to make speeches: Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
Other senators may also come to the floor to speak about the bill.
Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow, D.Mich., and Senate Agriculture Committee ranking member Thad Cochran, R-Miss., are scheduled to make the closing remarks before the cloture vote today.
