First Lady to visit ‘Drink Up’ event, appear on Jimmy Fallon

First Lady Michelle Obama will visit an exhibit encouraging drinking water in New York City on Thursday and tape an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which will be broadcast that night, Obama Foodorama reported Monday.
The first lady will begin her day in Manhattan at the launch of WAT-AAH!’s “Taking Back the Streets” exhibit at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, her office told Obama Foodarama.
“ ‘Taking Back the Streets’ is a celebration of street art in honor of ‘Drink Up,’ the Partnership for Healthier America’s initiative that encourages all Americans to drink more water,” the first lady’s office added.
“Taking Back the Streets,” which aims to give children new messages about healthy hydration, will continue with a pop-up exhibit for the general public from February 20 to March 1 at WallPlay, 118 Orchard St. in Manhattan.
The WAT-AAH! bottled water company is a partner in Obama’s hydration campaign, launched last fall. It bills itself as “functional water for kids and teens” and points out that water contains no sugar.
A new study commissioned by the WAT-AAH! Foundation, in conjunction with Fit Kids, finds that “celebrity-endorsed food and beverage advertising campaigns are emotionally and effectively driving America’s youth to product consumption.”
It’s unclear whether the first lady will promote her ‘Let’s Move’ childhood anti-obesity campaign on The Tonight Show Thursday, but when she appeared on Fallon’s Late Night show a year ago, she danced with him in the widely seen “The Evolution of Mom Dancing” skit.
Also scheduled for the show on Thursday is actor Will Ferrell, and Fallon has said the three may do a comic sketch.
Fallon, who succeeds Jay Leno, premiered as host of The Tonight Show Monday night.
