UFW recalls role of Shirley Temple Black prompting César Chávez’s Commonwealth Club speech

Shirley Temple Black, the former child movie star who died Monday night at 85, invited United Farm Worker leader César Chávez to speak at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco in 1984, and it became one of the most important speeches of his life, UFW officials recalled this week.
