House Agriculture Committee ranking member Collin Peterson, D-Minn., said Monday that payment limits are the big problem with moving the farm bill bill forward, but a key Senate aide said Peterson is wrong.
“We’ve been stuck on payment limits for a week," Peterson told the Red River Farm Network.
But a key Senate aide with a knowledge of the situation said the conflict over dairy policy is the major issue holding up the bill.
Peterson also said that it is his position that the conflict is not between him and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, but between Boehner and the Senate, because Boehner is objecting to the supply management provision that is in the Senate bill.
