Do you have favorite books on agriculture, farming and ranching?
In honor of its centennial in 2013, the Labor Department in partnership with the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress — is developing a list of “Books that Shaped Work in America.”
The idea for this list derived from the “Books that Shaped America” exhibition sponsored by the Library of Congress in 2012, DOL said in a news release.
A cross-section of individuals, including several former secretaries of Labor, have shared their suggestions, including some about agriculture and rural life. But many of them are historic and there seems to be little about modern agriculture. There is nothing, for example, about Norman Borlaug.
The Labor Department is asking individuals to recommend books that should be on the list.
Books about rural life and agriculture already on the list
