The four principal negotiators on the farm bill conference — House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., House Agriculture ranking member Collin Peterson, D-Minn., Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., and Senate Agriculture ranking member Thad Cochran, R-Miss. — met today to discuss the bill, a spokeswoman for Lucas told The Hagstrom Report this afternoon.

“It was a productive conservation and the process is continuing,” the spokeswoman added.

It appears unlikely, however, that the four principals will meet again before next Tuesday. Lucas has town hall meetings in Oklahoma on his schedule Thursday, and Congress will not be in session Monday due to the Veterans Day holiday.
