The White House kitchen garden championed by First Lady Lady Michelle Obama is going untended during the shutdown, Obama Foodorama has reported.
The garden is normally tended by a combination of National Park Service employees assigned to the White House and volunteers from the White House staff. But Sam Kass, the White House assistant chef who cooks for the Obama family and also serves as executive director of Let’s Move, the first lady's anti-obesity initiative, is furloughed, along with other chefs and aides on the White House staff.
