Heather Zichal, the White House climate adviser, will step down, Reuters reported on Monday.

While some farm leaders have criticized Zichal as an advocate for climate change legislation, Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis praised her service.

“Heather is a consummate professional and has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise on energy policy to the White House. She has always approached her work with an objective view, seeking the best possible solution to our nation’s complex energy needs,” Buis said.

“Heather understands the valuable role of renewable fuels and protecting our nation’s environment. I have enjoyed working with her and I wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

Zichal, 37, has said she plans to take a non-government job, but has not provided details.
