It's official. The Agriculture Department will not issue the U.S. crop report or the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report scheduled for Friday “due to the lapse in federal funding,” an Agriculture Department spokeswoman said Monday.
The Associated Press also reported Monday that the federal government shutdown has created a vacuum of information about farm markets, making it difficult for farmers and ranchers to make decisions. The National Agriculture Statistics Service has not only stopped putting out new reports, the AP noted, but all USDA websites with past information have been shut down.
