As the government shutdown enters its second week, the Agriculture Department's U.S. Forest Service has told timber companies they will have to stop their activities on federal forest land, the Associated Press reported last week.
Meanwhile, the National Agricultural Statistics Service has stopped producing its reports and will not be able to publish the key October crop report on Friday.
"NASS will not issue any reports on days the government is shut down. We would assess the timing of any affected report releases after the government shutdown ends," a USDA spokesman told Reuters last week.
