CBPP: SNAP lifted 4 million people out of poverty

The Center for Budget and Policy Priorities said today that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP or food stamps, lifted 4 million people out of poverty in 2012 and reduced hardship for millions more.
