Volunteers with the Public Interest Research Groups held a news conference on Capitol Hill today before delivering petitions from thousands of people and 1,000 letters from small farmers calling on Congress “to end subsidies to large agribusinesses.”

The petitions were delivered to the offices of Sens. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Pat Toomey, R-Pa., to thank them for their opposition to farm subsidies and to 11 other senators to urge them to vote against subsidies for big farmers.

The senators targeted to receive the petitions and letters are Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., Richard Burr, R-N.C. Ed Markey, D-Mass., Mark Warner, D-Va., Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., Susan Collins, R-Maine, Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.
