American Meat Institute President and CEO J. Patrick Boyle has announced that he will step down at the end of 2013 after 24 years in the position.

Boyle is the longest serving president in AMI’s 107-year history. He joined the group in 1990 after serving as administrator of USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.

Before that, he worked as an attorney at several food trade associations and as agricultural legislative assistant to then-Sen. Pete Wilson, R-Calif.
