House passes budget, Senate debates

The House of Representatives today passed a long-term budget resolution while the Senate continued to debate its resolution, with a vote expected Friday.
The House budget passed on a mostly party-line 221 to 207 vote. The House budget calls for dramatic cuts in farm programs, conservation and food stamps.
The two budgets are so different that it is extremely unlikely that the Senate and House could come together on a budget resolution.
