Vilsack: USDA cut more than other agencies

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack complained today that Congress has cut the Agriculture Department more than other agencies.
In a speech and talking to reporters, Vilsack noted that the sequester has required a 5.1 percent cut to "every line item" in the USDA budget and that the continuing resolution will cut USDA 2.5 percent for a total cut of 7.6 percent in fiscal 2013.
Noting that USDA's discretionary budget is $1.1 billion less than in 2009, he added, “I am sure we got hit harder than anybody who got hit.”
