Martin appointed in USDA congressional relations

Ashley Martin has been appointed as legislative director for the Office of Congressional Relations at the Agriculture Department, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today.
Martin joined USDA in 2011 in as senior legislative analyst in congressional relations.
Before her appointment, she was the senior legislative assistant for Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, serving as the primary energy, environmental and telecommunications policy adviser for Matheson's work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Martin also managed Matheson’s work as co-chair of the Blue Dog Energy Task Force and Congressional Rural Caucus. Before coming to Capitol Hill, Martin was the constituent services representative and office manager for Matheson in Utah.
From October 2007 to April 2010, she was the legislative assistant for Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D.
She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Portland in 2005.
