First lady to embark on ‘Let's Move’ 3rd anniversary tour

First Lady Michelle Obama will celebrate the third anniversary of her “Let's Move” campaign against childhood obesity by appearing on three television talk shows, making three personal appearances and hosting online discussions.
Obama will travel to New York City this week to appear on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Friday night. She will tape a “Good Morning America” segment about a new “Let's Move” partnership to make healthy, reliable recipes for busy parents that will air next Tuesday, and an episode of “The Dr. Oz Show” with Education Secretary Arne Duncan to talk about how physical activity affects children’s health and academic achievement.
The Dr. Oz show will air on February 28, when the first lady and Duncan are scheduled to make a major announcement about bringing physical activity back to schools.
Next Wednesday, Obama will travel to Mississippi, which was rated the most obese state in the nation for several years, but whose childhood obesity rates have declined by 13 percent among elementary school students in recent years. The first lady and Rachael Ray, the TV personality and child nutrition advocate, will highlight school lunches in Clinton, Miss.
Next Thursday, the first lady and Duncan will be in Chicago to make their announcement on bringing physical activity back to the schools.

Chicago area teachers and students will also attend the event, which will be hosted by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
The same day, the first lady will travel to Springfield, Mo., to see changes Wal-Mart has made to reduce sodium and sugars from packaged food items, to make healthier food more affordable, and to use a package seal to identify healthier food choices.
On March 4, the first lady will hold her first Google+ “Hangout” by participating in an online conversation with parents and children from around the country, moderated by daytime talk show co-host Kelly Ripa. People wishing to share thoughts and questions on how to raise healthier families and communities may submit them by February 28 on the Let’s Move! YouTube page.
The First Lady’s Fireside Hangout will be streamed live on LetsMove.gov, the Let’s Move! YouTube Channel and the White House Google+ Page at 11:10 a.m. ET on March 4.
On March 6, Obama will answer questions using her office’s @FLOTUS Twitter account. Additional details will be released closer to the event.
