Organic Center names Shade science director

The Organic Center, a non-profit affiliate science center housed in the Washington office of the Organic Trade Association (OTA), today named Jessica Shade to serve as director of science programs, a new position.
She will formulate research projects, engage in grant and report writing and assemble and coordinate The Organic Center’s Scientific Advisory Panel, OTA said in a news release.
Shade worked most recently as the director of the Diversity Mentorship Program at the University of California at Berkeley.
She received a bachelor of science degree in plant science and a bachelor of arts degree in environmental studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She also earned a doctoral degree in integrative biology at the University of California at Berkeley.
