Monsanto has signed the accord on the future use of biotech seeds developed by the Biotechnology Industry Organization and the American Seed Trade Association.

The accord is an attempt to assure continued maintenance of regulatory approvals and stewardship for biotech seed technology when it comes off patent.

Monsanto released a statement on signing the accord.
