Children’s Defense Fund uses food stamp vote in scorecard

The Children’s Defense Fund Action Council has included a vote on elimination of categorical eligibility as part of its report card on Congress.
The vote took place on Oct. 21, 2011, and was on amendment to the 2012 Agriculture appropriations bill. The amendment was rejected by a vote of 41 to 58.
“On the whole, the 112th Congress was a ‘do-nothing’ Congress,” CDF said in a news release. “But many did respond to calls to defend health care reform, invest in children, and prevent the national budget from being balanced on the backs of babies.”
