One million people register for USDA diet tracker

One million people have signed up for the Agriculture Department’s SuperTracker free diet planning and tracking tool, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a news release last week.

USDA released SuperTracker last December as a part of the Obama administration’s efforts to counter epidemic rates of overweight and obesity. Users can set personal calorie goals using the My Top 5 Goals feature and monitor their whole grain intake and receive tips and support to optimize their choices, Vilsack said.

SuperTracker incorporates the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines, Vilsack said, and helps Americans put them into practice in their day to day activities.
