The Western Growers Foundation has produced a video to show Head Start institutions and schools how to start gardens.
Paula Olson, director of the foundation, said the goal is to establish an edible garden in every willing California and Arizona school.
“In these gardens, we are able to help children learn where their food comes from and the importance of good nutrition,” Olson said.
From planting the seeds, to harvesting and maintenance, school gardens provide learning opportunities, the foundation said.
