Merrigan, White House official to host local food event

Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan and Jon Carson, the White House director of public engagement, will host an online discussion on Tuesday to highlight efforts to strengthen local and regional food systems.
The discussion, entitled “Local Foods in Our Community As Told By Women,” will include female farmers and others involved in local food production in Oregon, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Maryland, New Mexico and Washington state.
The event may be viewed Tuesday at 3 p.m. on WhiteHouse.gov/live, or on the White House Google+ page.
Participants can ask questions on the White House Google+ Page, or on Twitter using the hashtag #WHHangout.
