The Senate went back into session today, but there was no apparent action on the farm bill as of this afternoon.
Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., was involved in making technical corrections to the target price amendment that he and Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., introduced last Thursday, according to a knowledgeable source.
Conrad’s office did not respond to an email asking about the nature of the corrections, but a lobbyist said that they involved the language restricting payments for a covered commodity to that crop’s historical acreage base.
