The surge in land sales in developing countries has increased the need for transparency in those transactions, three private groups in California, London and Rome studying the issue said in a report issued Tuesday at a conference in Washington.

The report was researched and written by Global Witness with input from the International Land Coalition and the Oakland Institute.
