'Occupy Our Food Supply' actions planned for today

An alliance of Occupy Wall Street and environmental and food justice organizations has called for a global day of action today “to resist corporate control of our food supply and to work towards a healthy food supply for all,” the Rain Forest Action Network has announced.

More than 60 Occupy groups and 30 groups including the National Family Farm Coalition, Farm Defenders and the Pesticide Action Network are supporting the effort called “Occupy Our Food Supply.”

The Huffington Post has featured articles by Farm Aid founder Willie Nelson and food advocate and author Anna Lappe supporting the day of action, and by Eric Holt-Gimenez, of the Institute for Food and Development Policy/Food First, questioning its value.
