The government of Mexico today officially reduced by half the retaliatory tariffs it had imposed on 89 U.S. products in the dispute over Mexican long haul trucks' access to the United States.
Under an agreement announced earlier this week between Mexico and the United States, the other 50 percent of the tariffs will be removed when the agreement goes into effect.
“At President Obama’s direction, the cross-border trucking dispute between the U.S. and Mexico has been resolved in a way that addresses safety concerns and upholds our trade obligations," U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said
Kirk also released a list of the products and the new tariff levels.
