Deputy Undersecretary Jensen heads to the White House

Deputy Undersecretary for Natural Resources and Environment Jay Jensen will move to the White House, the Agriculture Department announced today.

Jensen will resign from the Natural Resources and Environment mission area at USDA on June 10 to begin work at the White House Council on Environmental Quality as the associate director for lands and water, Undersecretary for Natural Resources and Environment Harris Sherman announced.

Jensen was appointed in April 2009 and has played a leadership role in the U.S. for the Forest Service, Sherman said, managing the public forest lands and providing assisted to private forest landowners. Doug Crandall, legislative director for the Forest Service will serve as acting deputy undersecretary until a replacement is appointed, Sherman said.
