EWG: 23 members of Congress got farm subsidies

Twenty-three members of Congress or their family members received farm subsidies between 1995 and 2009, and the Republican farmer members got much bigger subsidies than the Democratic farmer members, according to a study released by the Environmental Working Group today.

EWG said Republican farmer members got $5.3 million, while Democrats got $489,856.

The study also noted that the reason there were so few Democrats on the list is that so many rural Democrats were defeated in 2010.
