California makes farm bill recommendations

The Environmental Working Group and others have called on the California delegation to make sure that California's priorities are covered in what is seen as a bill that is likely to be primarily concerned with Midwestern crops.

An October 14 letter from California state officials to House and Senate farm leaders outlining California’s agenda for the farm bill has also surfaced.

The letter was written by California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross, California Natural Resources Agency Secretary John Lair, California Environmental Protection Agency Secretary Matt Rodriguez , and California Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretary Diana Dooley, and included a document titled “California and the Farm Bill: A Vision for Farming in the 21st Century.”
